Arizona-based Stewart Transport switches to employee ownership
Stewart Transport Inc. has transitioned to 100% employee ownership through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
This new structure will further reinforce Stewart Transport’s commitment to their customers, staff, and community, according to a statement from the company.
Founded in 1995 by Collin Stewart, his vision was to become a leading transportation company that focused on safety and customer service. Under Collin’s direction and his current leadership team, Stewart has grown into a transportation company with more than 220 employees serving the western United States.
Stewart saw the importance of a succession plan that would preserve the hard work that built the culture and integrity of Stewart Transport over the last 30 years, and the ESOP was a natural choice.
“Stewart’s success came from the passion and commitment of our employees, and it was important to me that our team’s loyalty was rewarded by providing a better future for them," said Stewart.
Stewart's new role will be to serve as chairman of the board for the company's ESOP trust. Nick Patterson, current CFO, will lead the executive team as CEO/CFO. The remaining executive team will include Jason Moore, COO and Amanda Gallegos, director of risk management.
There are no planned changes to Stewart’s day-to-day operations, and it is their objective to continue to provide dedicated customer service, exceptional safety, and integrity in all aspects of the business, according to the company's statement.
A statement from the executive team said, “We are excited about this new opportunity, and look forward to continuing our relationships with our customers and industry partners, while providing a successful future to our staff under the Stewart Transport legacy.“
Stewart Transport is located in Phoenix and has 108 drivers.
