QPS Becomes Wisconsin's Newest ESOP

QPS Employment Group, a Wisconsin-based staffing and recruiting firm, has recently become an employee owned company.

The company was started by Scott A. Mayer in 1985 in Franklin, Wisconsin. Over the past 36 years, the company has grown to 54 office locations in seven states throughout the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic. QPS currently employs more than 7,000 associate employees weekly and works with over 1,800 companies. QPS specializes in industrial, skilled trades, office/clerical and professional staffing. The company was previously owned by Mayer, chairman and CEO and Dan McNulty, CEO.

“Since starting the company, I’ve always tried to live by the adage that if you take care of the employees, they will take care of the company like they own it,” according to Mayer. “I’m so proud that now with this transition, our employees will be recognized for all the work they have been doing.”

McNulty stated, “Two of QPS’ core beliefs are legacy and family spirit. In the move to the ESOP, we believe that the employees will be taken care of as family and are now helping to solidify the legacy of QPS for many years to come."

Mayer and McNulty will stay on with QPS, now as members of a board of directors. Ryan Festerling, QPS' president and chief operating officer, says, "We are excited for the knowledge and experience that the board members will bring to QPS. We believe that with their guidance, we are poised for great growth and will have advancements in technology, which will only bring value to our customers and job seekers."

One of QPS’s founding members and chief sales officer, Mark Immekus, passed away unexpectedly in 2018. Mayer adds, “Dan, Mark and I had talked about passing QPS along to the next generation for years, and I know Mark would be proud of that idea now becoming a reality.”
